See Mima in action
Private by design
Mima runs on your computer. Here is exactly what that means.
- What we do collectCrash reports and anonymous usage data (which features and which networks), never what you read or write. You choose what to share before anything is sent. It helps us make Mima better, so we really hope you’ll share it with us!
- No Mima serversYour content and messages never end up on Mima servers. Mima doesn’t even have servers to store your data on! Your data comes directly to Mima from your social accounts, without any intermediary.
- We never store your passwordsYou sign in with each network’s own login. Mima never stores your passwords; it just keeps you signed in, on your computer.
- Signed and notarized by AppleEvery release is code-signed and checked by Apple before it reaches your computer.
- No ads, no trainingWe don’t use your content for advertising, analytics or AI training.
AI you can trust… or turn off
Mima works fully with no AI at all. If you want to activate Mima’s superpowers, like thread summaries, you decide to turn them on and what model to use.
- Off until you turn it onAI features are opt-in. The feed, composer, and inbox work fine with or without AI-using features enabled.
- A small model on your computerAI features use an SLM, a small language model: Llama 3.2 3B, an open-weight model (about 2 GB) that you download once and that runs entirely on your computer, even offline.
- Your content stays off other companies’ AIWith the built-in model, your posts and messages never touch large language models on anyone else’s servers.
- Your keys, only if you want themPrefer a bigger cloud model? Add your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Google API key. Only then will your content be shared with a third-party provider. (But seriously, try the SLM! It uses fewer resources.)
- See what’s AI and what’s humanAll AI-generated content in Mima is shown in a distinct style, so you can see what was written by a human and what was generated by a model.
